spearfishing

So does anyone else on here spearfish? I got into it about 6 years ago. The conditions in SJ are tough, may only get a few good days a year. During the summer of 2013, I only got out one time but it was a day to remember. It was mid July and we free dove (snorkeled) and had 15 ft visibility. With the warm water, we were presented with an array of southern species. I managed to score a large sheepshead, 2 spadefish, 6 triggerfish, 1 tog, and combined we picked 67 blue claws!

That's so badass. I have been trying to get into it for years but I don't know anyone who does it and I'm not sure about going down solo haha. I have even priced a few packages with rail gun weight belt wetsuit flippers etc. but never bit the bullet. I am down wwc every weekend from late spring to early fall. Would really like to try it this year. We will see. Awesome pictures makes me want to go do it. Thanks for sharing.

I always dive with a buddy. It's just safer and eases the nerves. My buddy is in the crest. We take his 13 whaler to the crest jetty and coast guard jetty.
