8-14 Hot Flukin

Unread postby Hooker » Sun Aug 14, 2016 7:21 pm

Well the fluke fishing wasn't so hot today for me but the air temps were. Me and Vince decided to go give it a shot after the morning blow. After eating a healthy balanced meal at Higbees we put our HUK shirts on and limped out in the chop to where we wanted to fish. It didn't take long and we boated a couple decent keeper fluke but it slowed down a tad and we had to work for the rest of them in different areas. We ended up boating 12 keeper fluke to 23" fishing 18-25' of 85 degree water. Also had 2 Cobia. The total number of fish we caught is way down but still plenty of nice sized keepers around to keep me going back for more. We used a variety of rigs and baits today trying to find a consistent bite, even tried clam strips but had a hard time keeping the breading on them. I don't see a bite lasting too much longer but I may give it a trip or two more just to make sure. I'm ready to hunt now.

No icecream today but it woulda been nice. Had to settle for other cold ones in its place.

Thanks guys, we really worked for these fish in awful conditions. We earned them.

Well at least we know who is going to bring the flounder to the get together.

Nice job guys...any truth to the rumor NJ is going to limit how many flounder trips Hooker can do a year??
