Bird down

Bird down

Unread postby Turkeyboy44 » Fri May 19, 2017 5:58 pm

Finally got one down. Hunter and I have been trying to get a bird the hole season. So today I went out to see if I could find a bird and not hearing anything just started walking threw the woods calling every 100 yards nothings working so I keep walking. Finally found fresh sign and sit down and start making soft purs and clucks and bird sounds off 200 yards away at least it was far. Made a 50 yard move away from the really thick stuck. A few soft yulps and cuts and he hammers again. 10 minutes goes by and a few more purs and hammers. Rake the ground and I see him walking in hes about 60 yards out. He makes it to 40 yards and I let the 3 1/2 bark. Down he goes. I have had the hardest season I have ever had in my 15 years of turkey hunting. I have probably walked 10 miles or so this week looking for birds. Blisters all over my feet to show for it Im in so much pain its not even funny. Going to try to get hunter a bird tomorrow. If not we still have next week to try and get it done.

Way to hang in there and preserver, you know you'll always remember that hunt.
Hell of a chigger bite on your foot there.
