Buckshot gets it done D week

Buckshot gets it done D week

I had a very special hunt this afternoon with my son! We've been scouting hard and trying to get back on a group of birds from earlier in the season. Well yesterday afternoon with the rainy conditions we decided to fore go hunting and run the roads looking for some nice gobblers. We hit pay dirt with a freshly plowed field and 4 hammers out there strutting! I picked up buckshot from school at 2pm and out we went. We were settled in an island of woods and I hit the box call... BOOM! They hammered back! I gave them about 15 mins and pulled out a call I've been using/testing out this spring the Apocalypse - Lou Gambale's signature call. I start with some steady hen yelps with some clucks thrown in. They're on there way!! At this point their roughly 250-300 yards off, so after a small calling session I lay off the calling. Well it wasn't more then 10 minutes and they gobble! 150 yards and closing... I get buckshot settled in and I move back about 50 yards... I didn't want them hanging up on him. Well it worked like a charm! I purred and yelped softly and they gobbled rite into his gun barrel! 20 yard shot and it was a dirt nap for a trophy south jersey longbeard!! I couldn't be more proud!! He's turning into a fine outdoorsman! 22.8lbs, 11.5" beard and 1- 5/16" spurs Here's some picks! NWTF Score 71.125
