MONSTER GOBBLER !!!

MONSTER GOBBLER !!!

Unread postby Turkeyhunter50 » Wed May 09, 2018 11:24 am

Went out again yesterday morning. Setup on the edge of a woods where it hits the destinct crown of a field where I scouted good birds strutting. A short time later a heavy gobbler appeared across the field following two hens walking this ridge. With the binoculars, you could see it had heavy double beards! As they walked my way, another big gobbler approached this group from the left corner of the field. Then another big one from the right corner stepped out and ran towards the hens. When they all joined up, they continued towards me where I was sitting in a big patch of old golden rod. With my view bit obsured and all the birds dancing around, I lost track of which was the double beard. They now walked into the overgrown section with me at 20 yds. I let one good bird walk by at 12 yds. The long single beard was staring me down as he went by. Got to do something before I get busted. I can't see the chest of either of the two remaining toms. Well it's a flip of the coin, 50/50. First one to spot me, goes home with me. A moment later it's over. I walked out to recover my bird and found I lost the coin toss. Not the double beard I wanted but the bid was huge! A REAL MONSTER GOBBLER! The bird checked in at 28 lbs even !! It had 1 1/8" Spurs and a 10" beard.

Mike where you hunting with a guide? It's post on a guide's site as he got his client a 28 #bird?
No biggie either way just wondering if someone took your photo and used without permission as their own

Thanks guys. TOMCBigBucks, Yeah I've done pretty good this season. But not without effort. Between, scouting for weeks prior and hunting... alot of early mornings putting thousands and thousands of miles my truck.
About the photo being used, was unknown to me. I texted it out to FRIENDS to see the bird.
