Are these fish lost?

Are these fish lost?

Unread postby Nevermoor » Sun Aug 26, 2018 10:58 am

Friday and again today I caught king mackerel off OC. the normal range for these guys is NC to FL. I guess they made a wrong turn and ended up in Jersey. from reports it seems quite a few being caught here. This is a good addition to our mixed bag of fish. And king Macks are known down south as smokers so I dutifully put them in brine and fired up the smoker.

My biggest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my guns and fishing rods for what I told her I paid for them.

Wow, that's the first I've ever hears of Kings being caught up here... good job! I was surf fishing Stone Harbor this weekend and caught a few Pompano while fishing for whiting ( northern kingfish).

I was convinced I had a giant spanish mack at first. After the 2nd fish I knew they were kings. Shep, the local fishing writer at the AC (de)Press reports several other caught. My son works on a charter boat and they also caught a few. Thank you global warming.
